Let’s shine some light on the remarkable efforts of THINK South Africa across geographical lines. From impactful community engagements in Free State’s Mangaung district, to heartfelt support initiatives in Limpopo’s Sekhukhune district, and vibrant Women’s Month celebrations – our district offices and the organisation have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to health awareness, community support, and gender equality. These collective efforts highlight the strength and unity of our entire team in making a positive impact.

THINK HILLCREST: Food Drive Initiative
As we honoured Nelson Mandela’s legacy on Mandela Day in July, THINK colleagues in the Hillcrest Office gave back to our community – leading a food drive initiative to support those in need. We invited all THINK offices across various provinces to join us in this initiative, embodying the spirit of THINKers in different communities. The THINK Communications Team and members of the Community Advisory Board delivered groceries to a needy family in Inanda , in KwaZulu-Natal’s eThekwini District. The heartfelt gratitude expressed by the family was a powerful reminder of the profound impact we can make together.

MANGAUNG: Community Outreach
July was marked by impactful community engagements in Mangaung district, beginning with an Open Day at Bathu Clinic. Supported by USAID and the Department of Health in the province, this event highlighted the importance of adhering to tuberculosis (TB) treatment schedules, drawing strong participation, and raising vital health awareness. Later in the month, a TB Awareness Campaign at the Fire Station in Namibia Informal Settlements, within the Mangaung district, offered essential health services – including TB and HIV screening, testing, and immunisations. The community’s enthusiastic response reinforced the demand for more frequent health initiatives.

FEZILE DABI: Bridging the Health Gap in Underserved Communities
On 21 August, the THINK team at Fezile Dabi District, in partnership with the Free State Department of Health and the Harry Gwala Mobile Clinic, made a significant impact at the “Joining Hands We Can End TB” Outreach Event. Essential TB screening was conducted by our team, with testing facilitated through our Mobile Digital X-ray van, using advanced AI technology for quick and accurate diagnoses. These diagnostic services, typically difficult to access and expensive, were provided at no charge to the community, aligning with our vision of improving health equity. Additional services like HIV testing, blood pressure checks, family testing, and expanded immunisation programmes were also offered, and it was encouraging to see so many residents actively participating and taking charge of their health.

FEZILE DABI: Women’s Month Celebrations
The Fezile Dabi District Office hosted a special celebration on Friday, 16 August to cap off our Women’s Month activities. Male colleagues wore heels, symbolically walking in women’s shoes to show their support and empathy for the challenges women face. Meanwhile, the women dressed in black with dooks and head wraps. This event highlighted solidarity and reinforced our commitment to gender equality, which creates an inclusive and empowering environment for all.

VHEMBE: Mandela Day Celebration
In honour of Mandela Day, the THINK team in Vhembe collaborated with Louis Trichardt Hospital in Makhado for a meaningful initiative. The team provided refreshing snacks, including bananas, oranges, and water, to support the hospital’s staff. Louis Trichardt Hospital also contributed by sourcing donations of tea and bread, while the THINK team set up a stall to assist the hardworking team in meal preparation. Additionally, the THINK team, in partnership with the ward committee, identified two local families in Tshikota to receive food parcels, bringing joy and hope to those in need. We thank Louis Trichardt Hospital, Makhado Municipality, the Department of Correctional Services, and Mr Khosa, the Hospital Communication Manager. Together, we honour Madiba’s legacy and positively impact our community.

SEKHUKHUNE: Meaningful Support
In honour of Mandela Month, team THINK Sekhukhune embarked on a staff-driven initiative to assist a family in Denillton – a town in Sekhukhune facing severe hardships. The team made a small but significant impact by providing groceries and support, reminding us of the power of collective action and community spirit. Let’s continue to uphold Madiba’s legacy by making every day a Mandela Day.

These initiatives across our district offices and the broader organisation underscore THINK South Africa’s dedication to making a meaningful difference in our communities. By working together and supporting each other, we continue to uphold the values that drive our mission. Let’s carry this momentum forward and keep making a difference every day!
