In alignment with the 2024 Mental Health theme, “It is Time to Prioritise Mental Health in the Workplace,” the THINK Vhembe District team recently engaged in a meaningful mental health awareness initiative as part of the Mental Health Commemoration. Recognising the rising pressures of work and the associated exhaustion, this initiative aimed to cultivate a supportive environment where mental health takes centre stage.

 Highlights:

  • Interactive Games: Teams participated in fun games, including frog jumping, river/bank, and traditional dance competitions featuring Tsonga and Venda styles. These activities were designed to strengthen team bonds and foster collaboration.
  • Group Activities: A “Get to Know Each Other” game encouraged open communication and teamwork, with participants competing for prizes such as chocolates and sweets.
  • Social Engagement: A communal braai provided a relaxed setting for team members to share stories and laughter, further promoting camaraderie and connection.

The participant feedback was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting a strong desire for continued wellness activities within the workplace. As a result, plans for a follow-up event in December are already underway, aiming to support mental health initiatives further.

This initiative underscores THINK commitment to prioritising mental health and creating a supportive work environment. We look forward to continuing these efforts and enhancing the well-being of our teams.
